About
Set in 2004 during Obama’s first run for Senate, What a Time To Be Alive (You Say That Every Time), tells the story of his staffers Dan, Clark, and Porsche at the campaign’s South Side office. Dan, the leader, is hot, smart, and problematic. Porsche is an environmentalist who loves humanity but is meh on humans. And Clark is a good white gay boy who really cares about racial injustice. When newcomer Aisha is recruited to the South Side office - with her confident smile, unflinching candor, and enviable ability to connect with hard-to-reach constituents -she quickly becomes a rising star in the campaign and a friend to all. Things get take a turn when Dan is fired and the newcomer Aisha is promoted to his position. What a Time To Be Alive (You Say That Every Time) is a workplace drama where the work feels personal, the personal feels political, and the political feels existential.
