About
Yeaji Kim is a scenic and video projection designer based in Chicago. Born and raised in South Korea, she came to the States in 2012 to pursue her MFA in Theatre Design. Her recent collaboration in Chicago has been with Griffin Theatre, Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, Red Tape, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, Strawdog Theatre Company, Silk Road Rising, The New Colony, Cerqua Rivera Dance, Citadel and more. Her work with Strawdog’s The Effect has been nominated for 2020 Jeff Awards Non-Equity Projections Design. Her scenic design for Great Expectations (Co-production of Remy Bumppo & Silk Road Rising) was nominated for Best Scenic Design for BroadwayWorld Chicago Awards. She is interested in visualizing new work and underrepresented stories and reimagining classics in an exciting way. Yeaji is also an illustrator and content creator. Her love of combining drawing with video projections has brought her frequent collaborations with a variety of theatre artists in Chicago and New York. She is currently working on World Premiere of In Every Generation (Victory Garden Theatre, Chicago), Dear Jack Dear Louise (Northlight Theatre, IL), The Chinese Lady (Kitchen Theatre & Geva Theatre, NY).
